A new approach to dentistry
We are proud to be the leading homeopathic
dental practice in the country. Our programme of continual
research into
the latest
treatments and materials provides a constant update
for improving the scope and extent of our services.
Our main priority is to give you healthy
good-looking teeth to last a lifetime. This treatment will
be
provided in
a friendly
and professional environment using state of the art
equipment and latest techniques.
Your whole body, your general health
and your lifestyle all affect the long term health of your
teeth. For
that reason,
we use a
holistic approach to plan a preventive dental programme
to suit you and your dental needs.
Orthodox and alternative treatments
can help achieve success with your dental programme. We are
well
equipped to advise
on these services. Above all, ours is a preventive
practice providing
expert advice and quality care.
Teeth for life
Prevention is the key to successful dentistry.
Our philosophy is not simply to fill cavities, but to preserve
the remaining
tooth structure. To achieve this, we can provide diagnostic
testing in the form of salivary and plaque analysis, diet
and oral hygiene counselling and treatments such as fissure sealants.
Preventive dentistry takes time and dedication,
but enables you
to enjoy teeth for life.
Oral Hygiene
A bacterial deposit called plaque
causes gum disease. It is essential that this buildup is removed
regularly,
we recommend that you
attend for cleaning every 3 to 6 months.
Diet
Plaque converts sugar into a harmful acid, which leaches
calcium from tooth enamel and starts decay. Avoiding
sugary foods will
certainly help to minimize damage.
Damage caused by sugar is directly related
to the frequency of intake rather than the total intake.
Local factors
come into
play, such as rough fillings or badly fitting crowns.
Help yourself by cutting out sugary foods and drinks
between
meals and let
us provide the careful professional dentistry that
prevents tooth decay.
Our Holistic Approach
Holistic dentistry considers
the causes of your dental problems, not just the symptoms. We
look at connected areas of your
body and the wider aspects of your general health. We can
analyse
your health, lifestyle and stress levels before recommending
the appropriate dental treatment. We aim to provide a realistic
dental plan that is easy for you to live with, and that will
ultimately give you healthy, happy teeth for life.
Nutritional Stress
A poor diet, high in sugar, alcohol, caffeine but lacking
in sufficient fruit, vegetables and fibre will lead to
muscle tension.
If you suffer with chronic pain we may advise you to reconsider
your diet. To aid healing we may also recommend dietary supplements.
Life Stress
Stress often reinforces or changes patterns of behaviour
in a negative manner. This can have a profound effect on
teeth
and
their function, sometimes with far reaching or long lasting
effects, such as migraine. Major life events create stress,
as do the
pollutants that are part of modern day life.
Stress may be addressed by adopting simple methods of relief;
regular exercise or relaxation therapy like yoga. We can
also measure the toxicity of amalgam fillings and may suggest
that
you consider having them replaced.
Occlusions and Headaches
Occlusion is the term we use to describe the way your teeth
fit and function together. Many headaches are caused by
muscle contractions, which affect the occlusion of your teeth
and
lead to poor posture and teeth grinding. To pinpoint stress
areas, we examine your head, neck, jaws and bite
Alternatively…
As well as traditional dentistry techniques,
we will advise you on alternative treatments.
Homeopathy
There is an increasing awareness of the beneficial
effects of homeopathic remedies, particularly when
prescribed to
complement and enhance a traditional approach. The
use of homeopathy in
dentistry is growing and you may be surprised by the
wide variety of treatments that are specifically
useful for
dental conditions.
We are qualified to give full homeopathic advice, from
an alternative to antibiotics, through to the alleviation
of nervousness or
treatment of sore gums.
Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial osteopathy is concerned with the movement of the cranial
bones and the rhythmic impulse within the cranium, both of which
can be shown to have a direct effect on our well being. Swallowing
and chewing exert pressures, which, if wrongly directed through
poor occlusion, can produce symptoms in many different parts
of the body.
A confident smile
A confident and attractive smile is
vitally important. If you are unhappy with the appearance of
your teeth, it may be worth
considering
cosmetic dentistry.
We can offer you treatments, including
remodeling and closing gaps. We can remove particular stains
and whiten teeth by bleaching,
both individually or as a full arch. If unsightly metal fillings
bother you, they can be replaced with a range of tooth coloured
materials. It is also possible to change the position of
your teeth
with crowns, veneers and orthodontics.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening is an easy and effective
process designed to brighten your smile. It involves a gentle
and safe procedure
that will not
harm your teeth and gums.
The most common form of whitening is ‘home bleaching’.
This system involves wearing thin custom made trays that fit over
your teeth with a small amount of bleaching gel. It can then be
worn while sleeping over a period of 10–14 nights
or until the desired result is achieved.
Bleaching teeth is one of the fastest
non-invasive cosmetic procedures available. A whiter smile
will boost your self
image and confidence.
A one time top up every 12 months is all that is needed
to maintain a long term smile that will be the envy of
your friends.
Implants
Dental implants are an excellent
form of tooth replacement. They are secure, comfortable and function
as natural teeth. Implants
can replace dentures or bridges.
A titanium post is placed into the jaw, fuses
to the bone and acts as root for a subsequent crown. This system
can be used
to replace
any number of teeth and has become a very successful option
worldwide. Implants enhance your appearance, feel and look
like real teeth
and allow you to eat, talk and function as if you had a full
set of your original teeth. They are a routine procedure and
age is
no barrier.
Peter is a Fellow of the International College
of Oral Implantology and has many years experience in placing
implants.
Plenty to smile about…
Comfortable, relaxed dentistry is nearly always pain free. We use
rubber dam to isolate the teeth, and to avoid the ingestion of
filling materials. Our practice is air conditioned to provide optimum
comfort and we use the latest equipment for smooth, quiet operation
and minimum vibration.
Nervous?
Please tell us if you feel anxious about your visit. Homeopathy
might help, and we have intravenous and oral sedation available,
as well as nitrous oxide.
Sterilisation
We maintain the highest level of cross infection control by constantly
updating our techniques and following the guidelines given by the
Australian Dental Association. All instruments and hand pieces
are autoclaved and we dispose of all surgical accessories. We always
wear rubber gloves and face masks.
Music
An excellent way to help you relax, so settle back and enjoy the
music. You are very welcome to bring your own.
